“Ana w Turathi” is a special competition launched by Misk Heritage Museum Asaan in cooperation with Riyadh Schools. It is designed to help students build a stronger, more personal connection with heritage and explore what it means to them today.

The competition invites students to discover Saudi heritage through creativity by choosing an artifact and writing an original story inspired by it. Along the way, students are encouraged to reflect on history, identity and the stories that continue to shape our culture across generations.

What is Asaan?

Asaan celebrates and preserves Saudi Arabia’s diverse heritage, keeping it meaningful and relevant for past, present and future generations. Supported by the Misk Foundation, Asaan reflects the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sara Bint Mashhour Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in safeguarding both tangible and intangible heritage, from artifacts and traditions to arts and values that define Saudi ways of life.

Which grade levels can participate?

The competition is open to Riyadh Schools students (boys and girls) in the following grades:

  • Sixth grade
  • Seventh grade
  • Eighth grade

How can a student or team participate in the competition?

The competition runs from January 26, 2026, to April 15, 2026, with deadlines for artifact selection, project submission, and announcement of winners.

How do I register?

Can I participate in a group or only individually?

You can participate as an individual.

Is parental consent necessary?

Yes, parental consent is mandatory for participation and to allow student photos/videos or student work to be used for promotional purposes. Students without media consent can participate but may not appear in public materials.

Who are the judges?

A panel of subject matter experts in heritage, storytelling, and media will evaluate submissions using official rubrics.

What types of submissions are accepted?

Multimedia projects are accepted, including videos, presentations, or illustrated articles about chosen artifacts.

How do I choose an artifact for my project?

Artifacts for inspiration are available as photos on the competition website. Select the item that you feel will inspire you and ignite your imagination to create a story about Saudi Heritage

You’ll have access to workshops and guidance resources and can get support from your teachers or school coordinators.

Are there prizes for winners?

Yes, one male student and one female student from each grade level will be nominated for winning and recognition across the Riyadh School Group.

What outcomes can I expect?

Participants will deepen their heritage knowledge, develop research and digital storytelling skills, and get the chance to showcase their work and collaborate with others.

How is privacy and safety managed?

Competition activities strictly follow Ministry of Education and school policies regarding safeguarding, media use, and parental consent.
